What We Do
Hockey quest is a year-round Functional Neurological based Stress Training hockey development program designed for Bantam, Midget, Junior, College and Pro players to:
Improve acceleration, speed-agility-quickness
Build strength and power
Gain balance, core, and join stability
Peak conditioning for camps (tryouts), and maintain conditioning through the season
The program goes through post-season, off-season, and pre-season camp time/tryout preparation that includes dry-land, on-ice, specific nutritional programs, tournaments, body compositions, and fitness testing. Training is done through periodization and progression is based on each player as well as the group. Unlike many hockey programs that are preset, HockeyQuest develops a program one day in advance to properly progress the group and still improve each player’s specific needs. You will get the personal attention each and every workout. Our goal is maximum results; that is why we train as hard as we do and that is what sets us apart.
Scheduled Dates
Post-Season Training: Bantam – Pro
2-3 days a week starting in April*
Off – Season Training: Bantam – Pro
3 days a week starting May until the school year is finished (approx. 3rd week of June),
then 5 days a week in July and August
Off-Season Development Program (May to August)
A full comprehensive off-season program is designed to begin at the start of May and allow players in post-season physical and mental recovery to continue to the end of August taking you through off-season development and into pre-season functional conditioning. You will be challenged in dry-land and on-ice training that encompasses nutrition, testing, and a tournament.
In-Season Conditioning (October to March)
During the hockey season, team training is offered. A unique dynamic 60 minute session that will keep your team in peak physical condition as well as build good team morale in the process.
Power Skating Skill Development
(May-August / October-April)
With ex-pro hockey player Tyson Lowen, you will experience one-on-one and small group training to learn power dynamics, develop quickness, acceleration, strength, foot speed, and agility. We can get you the edge.
Once you are registered, you will go through a physiological analysis. This will include your body composition with calliper skin folds and/or bio-impedance measurements to track progress and give data for the nutritional program. You will then undergo baseline fitness testing (tracks physiological changes in strength, power, aerobic and anaerobic capacity) and further analysis throughout the program to chart your progress.
Dryland schedule will be as follows:
May: 3 days per week (Mon, Wed, Fri)
June: 4 days per week (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri)
July & August: 5 days per week (Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri)
On-Ice Schedule
On ice 3 times a week with ThirtyTwo Hockey Development
Testimonials
“I have trained with several different gyms and trainers and Marc by far brings the most intensity and preparation to each workout. Marc’s experience allows him to put together the best program for us to go into camp in the best condition possible. Every year I have gone into camp faster, stronger, and more mentally prepared than many of my teammates. The volume in Marc’s workouts have been a big part in keeping me healthy throughout the season. I have not missed a regular season or playoff game due to injury since i began training with Marc full time four years ago. Hockey Quest would be my first recommendation to any player looking to make it to the next level. “

“For many off-seasons and until my retirement after 18yrs in the NHL, I trained with Marc Gagne. My time was great, since day 1 I knew I was in good hands. Marc pointed out my weaknesses immediately and in short order turned them into strengths, building confidence and performance both on and off the ice. It was something that I needed to be strong to perform at a high level. That is the kind of thing Marc provides. He will not only get you in shape and get you stronger, Marc will make sure you are strong for exactly what you need for your specific sport. I noticed a big difference in my following season, I was in the best shape of my life, I was bigger faster and stronger. Someone once asked me how I liked working with Marc and if it helped me at all. I simply responded, “I worked out with Marc and went on to have the best season’s of my life and extend my pro career, what do you think”? “

“Over the past few decades hockey has become an off-ice/on-ice training intensive sport. Players/goalies who strive to reach higher levels are witnessing the most competitive atmospheres in the game to date. With new rules that are designed to increase speed and the excitement of the game trainer Marc Gagne has not only met but exceeded the development of new state of the art techniques to meet the ever evolving physical demands of the game today. It was a no brainer to sign up with Hockey Quest, Marc’s leadership and dedication to hockey player/goalie development is unmatched. The friendships and bonds with fellow players are among my best memories of my time spent at Hockey Quest! “

“I have been working with Marc for 6 years and have progressed each and every year in preparing to take my game to the next level. I enjoy his hard and intense workouts which have proven to be very effective for me and my development.”
– Zane Kindrachuck
“I was 14 years old when I was going into my second season of Bantam AAA for the Calgary Royals and my family and I thought it would be a good time to start off-season training in order to improve my chances of getting drafted into the WHL. I heard of Mr. Gagne’s program through my teammate at the time, Zane Kindrachuk, who had great things to say about Marc as a trainer and person, so I thought I’d give it a try. Every year since has been awesome because Marc designs each workout for a specific purpose and objective while teaching me the daily effects of nutrition and how my body reacts and adapts to certain exercises. His program is unique because he not only designs each workout to improve your strength and speed, but he creates certain circuits to focus on critical muscles that are relevant to the specific sport. He also creates custom nutrition plans all dependant on the size and body-fat percentage for all of us to get the best performance out of our bodies. Marc is great at analyzing and adjusting each workout so that everyone is able to improve on what we individually lack at the most in order to maximize everyone’s improvement day after day. He is always open for feedback and to have a chat about anything going on in life. My experience as a whole over the past 4 summers has been by far the most fun and most importantly successful, as Marc pushes me to be the best I can be with the sole purpose of my success in each upcoming season. I would 100% recommend Marc’s program to anyone that has a desire to improve themselves with a dedication to their health and success.”
-Louis Jamernik
“Ever since I came to Marc for training I have never been as strong and fast with as much acceleration and mentally prepared for the next hockey season. Marc is one of the best teachers and mentors I have had. “
